It’s difficult to parse the history of everything in front of you- of churned up mud and stone that’s ancient and self-renewing. The seemingly orphan phenomenon of watching online gore art is just another fragment in the millennia long history of death art. Much is inscribed into stone and memorialised, but even more is forgotten and lost, because even stone breaks down back into amorphous mud, like bodies.
Necrobabe Neolith envisions a pair of anime girls, both deathly and immortal as angelic guards. It’s about the blurring between real and fake, alive and dead, honouring and self-gratifying, and isolated together. Cute survivorship, and etching etching ephemera into stone. Or it’s just about enjoying the imagery.
